Results of POS DRU Project Presented at NSPAS
Preliminary results of a research developed within the POS DRU project “Instruments and mechanisms of growth and facilitation of higher education access based on horizontal and vertical partnerships among institutions of education, central and local structures of the educational system and social actors” were presented on June 1st, at the National School of Political and Administrative Studies.
The project is coordinated by the dean of the College of Communication and Public Relations, Dr. Remus Pricopie. The research team who presented the preliminary results of the national survey regarding higher education was formed of project director, Dr. Remus Pricopie, Dr. Loredana Ivan and Dr. Valeriu Frunzaru, senior researchers at the College of Communication and Public Relations, and Dr. Nicoleta Corbu, Executive director of the Center for Research in Communication. They presented some results of the national surveys applied in high schools and state universities over the country to their fellow colleagues, members of the project, representing University of Bucharest, Polytechnic University of Bucharest, and National School of Political and Administrative Studies.
The surveys were designed on national representative samples, of 2632 high school students and 1402 university freshmen, with a sample error of 1.9% and 2.6% sample error for a confidence level of 95%.
Results showed correlations between parents’ education or residence and students’ grades or attendance level, as well as interesting insights about reasons why young people choose a university/faculty or another, or about their degree of content regarding various aspects of academic/high school life.
These are just some preliminary results that were announced in order to obtain valuable feed-back from the audience. A full report will be released probably in the fall.
